Oh hello. It really has been a while.
My lousy computer – it’s all her fault, I swear…she did make me spill that Vitamin Water on her…and force me to melt her keys with my hairdryer… It is her that has prohibited me from updating you all on my fabulous gypsy life as of late. But, she seems to be having a moment of empathy, and she is momentarily refraining from inserting backslashes after every letter I type, so I’m taking advantage...
I'm not fired! (knock on wood)
Two weeks down! Apologies for the lack in updating you all on my fabulous life as of late. I’ve been working my tail off in the ASL department, and I’m finally fairly certain that I will not be fired for my infinite lack of knowledge. Lines are memorized (in both languages!), show is blocked, and the next week will be spent cleaning everything up and adding in all the costume changes and such...

It's a quiet thing.
I have arrived in Ohio – my home for the next three weeks as I desperately try to brush up my sign language, lest I be subject to three months of loneliness. I hope this immersion thing works…
At the moment, there’s not much else to report. Rehearsals start tomorrow, and I’m staying with the one other female cast member at an extended stay in Akron. It’s a pretty quiet room.
And thus, the...
Oops!
My poor new employers. Today I received this email:
“Benton, I rec’d your contract and you missed one question on the contract. I have copied in below, please reply with your answer.
15. ARRESTS
Employee agrees to disclose below any arrests or warrants, including DUI, DWI or warrants for arrest. Failure to do so may result in immediate dismissal. If Employee has no...
At least we know I have my priorities straight.
I cried in only two of the three bridal salons I visited this week. Darn you theatre ‘get in touch with your emotions’ training. I used to be a rock, I tell you. A ROCK.
My mom came into town to spend a few days of fun in NYC while we were sure to find ‘the dress.’ And, as our time in the bridal salons has quickly come to an end, I fear I may be losing my title of...
Procrastination
I used to think I didn’t pride myself on my procrastination. Then, however, it occurred to me that I am a MASTER procrastinator: I should certainly be proud. In fact, I’ll bet if I put my mind to it, I could be one of best, if not the best, procrastinators who ever was. So, in honor of my newly defined skill, I’ll let you in on the secret of what I should be doing. And, all the while I shall...

Are congratulations really in order?
My parents have confided that several well-wishers have called to give their congratulations. They called to congratulate my mom and dad. Which begs the question: why do they need to be congratulated? Was it some great feat to find someone dense enough to take me off their hands? Did they secretly orchestrate the whole thing? Is there some prize parents get when they finally get rid of their...
Best Audition Ever
My fair readers, it is clear that I’ve been on a blogging hiatus as of late, with the reason being I had so much to say, but not nearly enough time to say it. First I was going to tell you about my international travels (you know that country up above that if we’re perfectly honest with ourselves barely classifies as a country?) and the wondrous waterfalls said country houses. Then I was going...

Bittersweet, indeed.
‘Tis a bittersweet day. A large part of the drama as of late has stemmed from the fact that we didn’t know how long our beloved show would continue, but today we received our answer. I will be performing in Rochester through the 18th, and then it’s back to the grind of New York City (with a brief stint in California to pay homage to the old homestead). The news is bittersweet indeed. I have...
Bare-breasted women and ripped off weaves?
It has been a bit since my last post, and the reason for this has not been that nothing of note has happened. In fact, it has been quite the opposite, but unfortunately I can broadcast none of it on the interweb. But, to appease my fair readers, I have decided to enlighten you with a comparison of sorts.
Today, while driving with some fellow cast mates in my fair city of Rochester, we see a...

Prayer works.
So, I spared you all my freak-out that was happening amidst all of my “I’m having a great time” updates. Last night, my voice was the worst it’s been: I made it through the show, but I was worried I was permanently damaging it. And, when your voice is your livelihood, this can be a terrifying thought. I’m in an incredibly vocally demanding show wherein I have no understudy and was faced with...

Back in the ROC
Several of you have asked about the cough. In answer to your concerns, it’s great except for the fact that my lung keeps trying to catch a glimpse of sunlight by trying to claw its way to the surface via somewhat frequent bouts of hacking.
In other news, I had a lovely few days back in my beloved New York City. I had some quality time with Mr. B, started whittling down the Christmas shopping,...
Cinderella needs her mom, but gladly accepts her...
The show opens tomorrow, and I am currently trying every remedy known to mankind to aid a feverish cough resulting in swollen vocal chords. Apologies to any who may come into contact with me over the next few days, as I will undoubtedly reek of garlic, apple cider vinegar and Vicks VapoRub. My regimen currently consists of Mucinex, Zycam, VapoRub (on chest and feet?), obscene amounts of honey...

Just for the record - I know I look ridiculous with the waving. Cinderella has some issues.
A love that deserves some recognition
A man who decides to associate with an attention hog, drama queen, actress of a woman deserves to be commended. When he also encourages said drama queen to pursue her dreams, even when it means he really doesn’t get to see her for months at a time, he deserves even more than commendation. And if that man sends the aforementioned woman a care package complete with her favorite Vitamin Waters,...
A slight bout of vocal rest and the apologies that...
What a week it’s been – and sadly, most of it I cannot recount on the interweb as it could result in the WRONG people reading it. Alas, rehearsals are going well – minus a few tears, drama (of the offstage sort), near cancellations of the run, boldfaced lies, and some flat out train wrecks.
That said, I am absolutely loving the show and the opportunity to work at this theatre with the...

self defense and unexpected twists
A quick update: I made it! After a seven plus hour train ride, I arrived in the fair city of Rochester and moved into my home until who knows when (I found out we may be extended through spring). I’ve been told by several locals that, “oh…that’s not a good area…you really shouldn’t be walking…can someone drive you?” So, hopefully I don’t need to use my fabulous self-defense skills. What...
A sendoff of New York proportions
After a whirlwind week of running errands, packing up my room, finding a subletter, working, meeting up with friends, and somehow managing to pack an entire winter’s wardrobe complete with snow boots into one suitcase, I found myself having one day left to enjoy the City before I begin my new adventure in Rochester.
What did I do, you ask? Well let me tell you! I know you are all just dying to...
Booking the Job.
I’ve been in this Concrete Jungle for four years now. I came here to be an actress. So far, I’ve been a student, a salesperson, a manager, a nanny, and yes, an actress. For the first two years, I was a student of the arts, or rather, a pretentious theatre snob in training. After that, I immediately booked a job as an actress. When that job came to an end, I was faced with the pressing need...
Let's have another go:
A new chapter is beginning, and I figured what better way to entertain the masses than to start another one of these tomfooleries known as a blog (or rather, revisit, revamp, and relaunch the old one). For my many fans who are undoubtedly reading this with anxious anticipation paired with slight hesitation due to my last failed attempt into the blogosphere, I offer you this: if I post in this...

"ah...how old is she?"
It’s a proven phenomenon that boredom leads to life’s greatest advancements. Time and time again, the greatest contributions to society, both artistic and technical, have been traced to a poor bored soul.
At least it’s a proven phenomenon now, because I wrote it, I’m bored, and it’s on the Internet, so it must be fact.
But…I’m not really bored. I...
